Poodle Moth, a New Weird-Looking Animal Species

Have you ever been fascinated by a weird-looking animal? Beautiful animals are a lot, but the weird ones are pretty rare. Poodle Moth is a new species that has a very unique look. Many people think that this is a hoax. In fact, this animal is real, first discovered in 2009.

Venezuela is where the species firstly found. The scientist who contributed to the discovery of this unique animal is Dr. Arthur Anker. Until now scientists have not been able to ascertain in what genus this animal belongs to. Some say that it has many similarities with the genus Artace, while others say differently. The species spreads quite widely, from Argentina to North America. Poodle Moth has some relatives that have been identified. The number is about 10-15 species. With its bizarre look, many people consider this animal as a “Pokemon” character or something like that. It does look almost unrealistic and strange. It is not an animal in fairy tales, such as the chupacabra.

It looks beautiful yet frightening at the same time. If it wasn’t for the small body size, people may feel frightened to see this animal up close. It has physical characteristics similar to Diaphora mendica. However, Poodle Moth still looks weirder than the species. There is no many different pictures showing this amazing animal. If you search through the internet or other sources, you will only find a few same photographs. That means not many people have the opportunity to capture this animal.

Zoologist Arthur Anker is one of the few people who managed to photograph the animal up close. We don’t have any idea about its actual size. However, if it’s true that it has the same size as muslin moth, then it probably is as big as other insects. Moths usually eat herbaceous plants. If they gather in large numbers on a plantation, then they can cause damage. The wingspan is probably not too wide, like 38 mm or something. Poodle Moth is not the only unique insect found in recent years. Perhaps hundreds of thousands of other unique insects will be found in the next few years.
